Delivering technology upgrades for large financial institution

The context

Blue Seed Consulting recently completed a year-long technology-led change project with a large financial institution. This project was a once in a decade, major infrastructure upgrade for a key strategic technology platform.

Our client was undertaking a major infrastructure upgrade to one of its key technologies used nation-wide by major banks, Government agencies, regulators and across multiple internal teams daily.

Our approach

This complex infrastructure had not been upgraded in over a decade, additionally our client sought the opportunity to future-proof this vital platform. Given its complexity and criticality to multiple high-profile stakeholder groups, managing this change effectively for each audience with minimal disruption was essential.

Recognising the necessity for strong stakeholder engagement and communication our consultant applied a targeted approach to manage the end-to-end delivery of this project, rapidly gathering a deep understanding of potential impacts and audiences to engage.  In turn, leveraging this analysis to define a detailed change strategy that would appropriately address the needs of each impacted audience.

Working closely with subject-matter experts, our consultant ensured a people-focused lens was applied through each stage of the project and ensured appropriate content and detail for both executives and impacted audiences. From creating awareness, securing the engagement of key resources, and supporting knowledge transfer and upskilling, we looked to implement strategies that would support this change and aligned with organisation’s culture and ways of working.

The outcome

Blue Seed’s change expertise helped ensure a flawless infrastructure upgrade, delivered on time and without adverse user impacts, thereby demonstrating the value of change management and an increased appetite for future change management investment. Furthermore, through coaching and knowledge sharing Blue Seed helped elevate change management capability across the change community and contributed to the ongoing change practice, leaving legacy tools and templates for future use.
